Our Story
COWFU was founded by Mr. Sam Opio, back in 2010 and has been operating since as a community based organization and then later became a full NGO recognizable by the government of Uganda.
His story starts when he was a child – at 7 years in Owinying Agule village, Serere district, northern Uganda. His mother was struggling at the time to raise him and be able to afford school fees. At times affording two meals a day was hard, and access to clean water was limited.
The nearest access to water was a lake located miles away – Lake Kyoga which was used by the community. Access to health care is still a challenge and most of the people in Serere.
